Kavya Madhavan Music Album Kavyadalangal

Kavya Madhavan, who captured headlines for having written a Mappilapattu (a song sung by Muslims during their religious and other joyous occasions) which was later adapted to the new film One Way Ticket by film-makers Babu Janardhanan and Bibin Prabhakar, is now bringing out an exclusive album of her songs. Another highlight of the album is that one song will be set to music by Kavya herself.

"I first wrote a poem when I was in my ninth standard. I used to write a lot during my school days. I expect to bring out this album by the end of this year," says Kavya, who is presently shooting for 'Breaking News Live'.

In 'Breaking News Live', script is the king: Kavya Madhavan

Kavya Madhavan is busy with the shoot of Sudheer Ambalapad's Breaking News, in which she plays a powerful role.

However, Kavya feels the script of the movie is more powerful than the character itself. "In Gaddamma I play a strong character. But unlike that, here although I play a powerful role, the script is the king," she says. While Kavya's character is that of a city girl with a modern outlook, Mythili plays a village belle.

All eyes glued to Kavya Madhavan

Malayalam star Kavya Madhavan, who received the Best Actor (Female) award at the recently held South Filmfare Awards was the cynosure of all eyes — not just at the do, but also on her way back from Chennai to Kochi. So much so that, her presence even overshadowed yet another Mollywood star who happened to be on the same flight.

An A-list actor, and a close friend of the actress was also travelling from Chennai to Kochi. The actor, who has many a hits with Kavya, however, was seen chatting up with the actress and even congratulating her on her recent win. The fact that fellow passengers seemed more interested in convincing Kavya for a photo op did not seem to affect him at all. Considering most actors would feel threatened if they did not receive enough attention, his attitude was a pleasant surprise.

Malabar Malayalam Movie, Kavya set to promote Neeleshwaram dialect

Superstar Mammootty brought to the limelight Trivandrum's Malayalam dialect with Anwar Rasheed's 'Rajamanikyam'. With Ranjith's 'Pranchiyettan' and 'The Saint', he tickled our funny bone yet another time; this time around, in the Thrissur dialect.

Now, it is the turn of actress Kavya Madhavan to familiarise us with yet another one — the Neeleshwaram dialect. In her next outing, Malabar, directed by Ranjith, in which Mammootty and Anoop Menon play prominent roles, Kavya plays a village belle where, for the first time on screen, she's all set to use her hometown's dialect.

Kavya says, like comedians Innocent and Jagathy Sreekumar who popularised the Irinjalakuda and Trivandrum dialects effectively, she wants to popularise the Neeleshwaram dialect. "Actor Suraj Venjaramoodu took the Trivandrum dialect a step further," she points out. "Neeleshwaram is a village in Kasargod, with a population of not more than 17,000 people. I don't think many in Kerala are familiar with their dialect. I want to give it as much publicity as possible in my next movie," says the actress.

The fact that she is familiar with the dialect is one reason why Ranjith approached her for the role, says Kavya. "Everyone knows that I speak the dialect." In fact, actor Dileep is one among her peers who make fun of her and mimics the way she talks. Kavya adds that people from other parts of the state will find it difficult to even understand the typical Neeleshwaram dialect. "It is so different. You can hear it for yourself soon," she signs off.

The winners of the top honours, Salim Kumar and Kavya Madhavan, who won Best Actor Male and Female respectively, both won the award for the first time. "This is my first time ever at the Filmfare. I used to watch the awards every year and hoped to be here some day. Gadamma has done this for me," said Kavya.

Also a Filmfare winner for the first time, Best Actor Salim Kumar, said, "Just like we look forward to the mango season or the rainy season, it seems like it is the season for awards lately. I say so because after my film Adaminte Makan Abu won me the National Award, it has been raining awards. This is my 26th award for the same film since then, but I am most honoured to take home my first Filmfare because I consider this to be the Oscar of Indian cinema."

Vijay Yesudas also took home the Filmfare for the first time when he won Best Playback Singer for his Ee puzhayum sandhyakalum in Indian Rupee. He dedicated the award to his father and thanked the team of Pranayam for the same. Also on stage to receive his first Filmfare was winner of Best Film, producer Listin Stephen for Traffic. "This film has taken me places and I am happy to tell you that I will begin my innings in the Tamil film industry with the same project," he said.

Also making a mark at the function was the film Pranayam, which won as many as four awards — Blessy as Best Director, ONV Kurup as Best Lyricist, M Jayachandran as Best Music Director and Shreya Ghoshal as Best Singer Female.

Fabulous performances by some of the leading actresses from all four south film industries provided some high-voltage entertainment. The title sponsor of the 59th Idea Filmfare Awards 211 (South) was Idea, while the associate sponsors were Vijay Shanthi and C. Krishniah Chetty & Sons.

The telecast partners are Vijay TV, Maa TV, Suvarna TV and Asianet. Radio partner is Radio Mirchi.
